The singing in "Mind Your Own Business" is sort of what I wanted "Don't Touch Me" to be. The range might not have the low impressive notes in "Don't Touch Me" but the entire song is very energetic, and most importantly Ailee doesn't sound she's straining for a majority of the high notes. The chorus is sassy (matching the lyrics) and she sounds comfortable. We've been graced with high-impact vocals without fail, and Ailee's voice continues to impress. The bridge is gorgeous and leads into a final chorus full of beautiful high notes. Plenty of songs this year were consistent but this one is really damn good at incorporating a slower bridge. Ailee is extremely charismatic in the solo shots / acting, which also shows in her voice. Oh and her eyes / gaze continue to be powerful and mesmerizing.
The MV is quite interesting. Ailee and her group of thugs(?) track down the ex and ambush(?) him, totaling his car and making him miserable(?). You'll notice all the question marks, and that's because a lot of the acting seems pretty questionable / bad. I've never experienced this before, but if a group of random chicks started destroying my car I wouldn't exactly be calm or standing still. Either way, the police arrive eventually and arrest the suspects. Might I add that Ailee didn't exactly do a stellar job of hiding. After being locked away in what has to be the most ineffective prison / jail I've seen, Ailee and her gang manage to unlock the doors and scramble past the officer who honestly didn't seem to care much. Once free from the claws of justice, the group proceeds to...show up at the ex's place and trash everything. At least they are committed, I'll give them that. When the guy shows up (probably after crying over his car) Ailee gives him a swift kick to the balls. DAMN. I wonder if the excerpt at the end of the video implies that Ailee got arrested again ha. We don't really get to see much of the choreography and I doubt we will for a while, until Ailee's fully recovered but from what we get to see the choreography looks interesting, what with the boxing stance / throwing punches and all that.
While I personally prefer the smoother R&B sounds of "Insane," "Mind Your Own Business" is still a really good song. It's more of the powerful charismatic Ailee that most have come to know and love. Combined with the fact that she doesn't sound like she's reaching at all, this is delightful ear candy coming from one of the best.
