This is going to be a very simple post: it's gonna be a ranking of the girl group visuals. There won't be much explanation, as this is an eye candy piece more than anything, but also is nice because it contributes towards a little "Girl Group Profile" project I'm trying to work on. I only considered the girls listed as "face of the group" with a few exceptions (I'll address them when relevant). I originally had 30+ members but quickly realized that'd be ridiculously unnecessary and whittled the list down to the top 12. I valued how attractive they are, but also growth and consistency (think social media). Since this is pure visuals, group music and popularity, etc. has no weight in this discussion.
12. Hani / 11. Jei / 10. Tzuyu / 9. Hyosung
Hani kicks off the list at #12. Though Hani's main charm is her personality, she has sharp visuals, too. Remember, the rise of EXID was singlehandedly due to Hani's fancam exploding in popularity. Doll-like Jei is next, and even though Cao Lu provides tough competition (I personally like Cao Lu's looks more) there's no denying she is top tier. Chewy Tzuyu makes me uncomfortable putting her on such a list but whatever. She's really pretty and that's all. Hyosung is a member not officially called a visual, but let's be honest: Hyosung is by far the most attractive member in Secret, and the "actual" visual Sunhwa is the least relevant member of her group. Seems like she (Sunhwa) only got the title because she's unfortunately not offered too much else. Hyosung would be the visual in any other group.
8. Suzy / 7. Naeun / 6. Yura / 5. Bora
The "Nation's First Love" has matured elegantly over the years and it shows. Now if only they'd have a comeback! Naeun's constant innocence is a drawing point, but I don't doubt for a second that if A-Pink ever went down the sexy route (doubtful), Naeun would shine there, too. Yura and Bora are the remaining members who aren't necessarily their group's visuals but they deserve these spots. Honestly everyone in Girl's Day could qualify as the group visual but Yura's smoking glares put a stop to my heart and she's rarely looked bad (she is also the #1 killer with bright red hair). In Sistar's case, Dasom's claim of group visual is akin to Sunhwa's: the filler (and least appropriate) member gets at least some title. But no, Bora wins this here.
4. Yubin / 3. Jaekyung / 2. Seolhyun / 1. Nana
Sort of a sleeper until I really looked at the list, but Yubin is without question a member of the final set. Ever since she joined Wonder Girls she's made headlines for her good looks. Meanwhile, Jaekyung probably has the most active and most lethal Instagram out of everybody here, and that's plenty enough for #3. Seolhyun is the queen visual in AOA (again, even though I prefer Hyejeong) with no signs of slowing down (just like her group). And look, if you're the consecutive #1 overall in a "Most Beautiful Faces" in the world list, you sure as hell deserve to be #1 out of all girl group visuals. All hail our overlord Nana.Editor's Note: With finals too close to home, don't expect much from me over the next week or so. There are plenty of songs I want to cover (Twice, VIXX, etc.) so in due time. I've more or less finished the 2016 Recap piece so that will be published on time in early May, but gotta wait until finals are over for the rest.
