[Bonus] Girl Group Vocalist Power Rankings (#20-#11)

#20. Wendy (--)
Out of all the rookies, Wendy has the most experience under her belt. That may be because she debuted the earlier but hey. Wendy is a vocalist of different extremes. When she's in her comfort range, she's in the zone and sounds amazing: see all of "One Of These Nights." On the opposite end, she sounds very shrill when she reaches, likely a result of straining too much: see the high notes in "Dumb Dumb." But given her group's status, she is going to elevate herself as she matures and her group succeeds.

#19. Soyeon (--)
T-ARA isn't known for having extremely capable vocalists, but Soyeon deserves merit. I let her edge out Wendy primarily due to her much more extensive career. That career has also been very consistent for as long as I can remember, and she's never really had a bad performance. As an individual, she affects their music much more than anyone else, often by providing a strong backbone for her group's songs, like choruses in "Sugar Free" and "So Crazy." It's really a shame that Soyeon has yet to have a chance at a solo, while the triplets (Eunjung, Hyomin, and Jiyeon) got their starts already.

#18. Hyunyoung (--)
Within the bottom 12 members, Hyunyoung has my favorite voice. It's pure velvet goodness with a touch of nasality and that isn't bad in the grand scheme of things. Her voice isn't the only reason she finds herself at the best position out of that range though. She's been stable in her performances over the years and even though she splits the heavy work with Jisook, Hyunyoung has more presence in their music. Just look at "Black Swan." Unfortunately for her, she's yet to come out of her shell, chained down with her fellow Rainbow members as they continue to be neglected and overlooked despite releasing good music like "Whoo."

#17. Yuju (--)
We approach the middle of the pack and a new level of separation. Yuju, like High.D, impressed early with GFriend's material. Their bright and lively pop songs incorporated her powerful voice in beautiful runs in "Me Gustas Tu" and "Glass Bead." She is very strong in volume and power, but will need to work on her control in lives. Sometimes she looks like she's just yelling into the mic, which while adorable, doesn't always foster the best results. Yuju and (to a lesser extent) Eunha are high-profile vocalists on a young and rising girl group.

#16. Minah (--)
Contrary to popular belief, Minah's voice doesn't lock her into a specific niche like you'd expect. She possesses a super clear voice that rings through loud and clean no matter what kind of music she's singing. She can sound a little weak at times, but her collaboration work shows you she's got a wide range that's only going to expand as she gets better. Though her solo debut with "I Am A Woman, Too" wasn't her best, Girl's Day rely heavily on her for production and she is what makes songs like "Something" so good. Fun fact, Minah was responsible for over half the singing in that song, chorus aside.
#15. Jieun (--)
Secret's main weapon in their music is Jieun. Minah may have a super clear voice, but Jieun is the crystal clear voice in Kpop. I don't think any girl group vocalist could sound as clean as she did in "Don't Look At Me Like That." Furthermore, we've seen through Secret's identity disorder and songs like "25" that she is versatile, too. Even though Secret is on the verge of collapse, I have solace in knowing Jieun is more than qualified to succeed as a soloist. Please have a comeback soon.

#14. Sojung (--)
Sojung is outstanding. She has such a unique voice and delivery, it really is something special listening to her sing. She covers a large range and is expressive no matter the genre. Even though Ladies' Code has yet to achieve mainstream success, the group is notable having one of the more grand debuts ("Bad Girl") and Sojung has made a name for herself as an individual talent. "Galaxy" is soul-soothing, and even that track didn't get the recognition it deserves.

#13. Gayoon (--)
Even though her group is now defunct. Gayoon was a huge driving force behind 4minute. Jiyoon might be a key jack-of-all-trades and Hyuna is the iconic name and face but the fact is that their music would struggle without Gayoon's contributions. Her voice is piercingly strong and really helps elevate the buildup of songs like "Hate." On top of a fantastic headvoice, she has also shown the ability to tone down the power when necessary, such as "Cold Rain" and other ballads.

#12. Yeeun (--)
It seemed that once she got "Ain't Nobody" under her belt, Yeeun officially landed on the radar and got out of Sunye's shadow, where she had previously resided in earlier Wonder Girls years. Like Sojung, Yeeun's got a touch of uniqueness to her voice, yet also shows the chameleon-like ability to change and be simple. The latter is easily identified with "I Feel You." As she branches out more with collaborations, Yeeun will continue to impress fans and non-fans alike. I will never call her HA:TFELT, by the way. Stage names for a solo act don't make any sense (see: Eunjung as Elsie).

#11. Linzy (--)
With Linzy's emergence in "Apple Pie," I'd have given her the 10th spot over whoever has it now, but again, I had these ranks planned out from a while ago. Linzy on raw talent alone should deserve like a top 5 placing, but she has been severely overlooked in FIESTAR's music. Even in songs like "You're Pitiful," she didn't get as many opportunities to shine like other main vocalists have. But hey, their latest release showed things are changing for her and that's great news.
