Minha showed substantial growth over the years, improving her vocals with every release. She's also refreshing as the innocent maknae and visual in a group full of models. While her role may be easily replaceable, her shy presence will certainly be missed. On the other hand, Erin will forever leave her mark as one of the very best girl group rappers, and I'm heartbroken I won't get to hear or write about her raps again. Her voice was awesome and so was her personality. She carried the group in terms of the rapping and there is no current member that can take up the mantle. Erin's raps were a distinct part of every 9M song and it may be better for the group to just forgo having raps in future releases.
Can 9MUSES rebound from this? Of course. They survived without Sem, Eunji, and Sera and it's likely they'll survive without Erin and Minha. Their music will still be good, even if they need a little time (like going from "Drama" to "Hurt Locker"). But, as much of a 9M fan I am, there's no denying that their future as a group will always be in jeopardy so long as they continue to struggle with maintaining their roster. Sure, this isn't to the level of S.M. with people requesting to terminate contacts, but for fuck sake they haven't kept the same lineup for a year at a time. It may be coming at a time where plenty of other girl groups are losing members, but this has plagued 9M since forever, and they'll remain in this vicious cycle of releasing great music and losing great members. I can only hope for the best for the future of 9MUSES, but we're probably going to repeat this again next year when Hyuna, Hyemi, and Kyungri leave.
