#9. Yeri
It's a shame I almost always start these lists from the bottom because I knew who would be dead last right away. Yeri's inclusion to Red Velvet was met with neutral reactions from yours truly so it's not that. She just doesn't strike me as interesting in any facet of Red Velvet's music. And while I do appreciate her savagery, that's a gem for the variety world. Plus lately she started stealing Irene's rapping lines. Not that Irene would've been amazing with those lines but still.
#8. Rose
Yeah I'm not gonna add the accent on her letter, sue me. Usually the primary vocalist draws me to a group but that wasn't the case for Rose and Black Pink. She immediately reminded me of her senior Park Bom which carries both positive and negative connotations. Personality-wise, she's my least favorite of the Black Pink members. Oh well. The good thing about any list is that there's opportunities to turn it around.
#7. Lisa
International idols get plenty of paparazzi and sometimes it's a question if they deserve it. Lisa definitely deserves the spotlight. She's got that swagger and style. Unfortunately, as far as what her abilities are concerned, she gets (almost) completely overshadowed by Jennie. Still, she has had a phenomenal start thus far despite her group's lack of discography. Her floor as a rapper might be lower than Jennie's but I daresay her ceiling could be higher.
#6. Joy
Park Sooyoung is an attractive individual. Let's get that out of the way. In a sense, she reminds of KARA's Hara: a superb visual with improving vocals. To her credit, she's way more serviceable as a vocalist - look no further than her library of OST work and better in variety than Hara ever was. Still, at the end of the day the other members of Red Velvet have more appeal but I respect the Joy fans, especially those who create solid Kpop memes.
#5. Wendy
Out of everyone here Wendy has fluctuated the most over the years. I was high on her off debut and "Be Natural," then dropped her way low for a long stretch before rebounding back up over the last year. The same could be said regarding my respect for her as a singer. I'm a much bigger fan of her nowadays than in her early phases. She's a fluent English speaker and is Canadian - what's not to like?
#4. Jisoo
Jisoo is a meme master and a gorgeous visual. This group mix is a vicious competitive list of girls and Jisoo more than holds her own. After all, she's the one who made the legendary upset against Yoona in Visual Power Rankings IV. She's undisputedly the best member for variety out of the two groups and her laughter is contagious. Jisoo is a wild card in that her voice can be special if she's in the right range - so I'm really hoping Black Pink will utilize her optimally in the future.
#3. Seulgi
As a male, it's weird calling someone a girl crush but Seulgi has plenty of female fans to justify that sentiment. She's the consummate girl crush and a premier dancing machine. Her body is hella slender - still too skinny for my tastes but whatever. Despite being a dance pro, her support vocals are gorgeous and she is arguably my favorite voice to listen to out of everyone here. However, the best thing about Seulgi is her unintentional genius on shows and interviews. She tries so hard but is so bad but is charming all the same. You know, she's not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good.
#2. Jennie
For long-time viewers, the final two names here should be easily predicted. Jennie is a master of many skills: singing, dancing, rapping, attracting. She is the successor to Minzy as the YG jack-of-all-trades idol and has done an admirable job thus far. Her shy personality off the stage in contrast to her fierce charisma on the stage is endearing and not much else more needs to be said. She is a star and will continue to be a star.
#1. Irene
To nobody's surprise, Irene tops the list. She was always my favorite within Red Velvet and although she only recently overtook Jennie on the Bias Power Rankings, it's easy to see that she'll be ranked ahead of her for installations to come - thanks to Red Velvet's activity (and Black Pink's lack thereof). She survived the massive overhaul of visual names in the Battle Royale, and will continue to age like fine wine. Irene has a bashful charm to her but isn't afraid to intimidate the shit out of some unlucky dudes. She's captivated my heart for a long, long time.
