[Bonus] Best Of B-Sides IV: Season 9 Pilot

Prepare for a return to forgotten (or simply old) series as Season 9 gets underway. Today we'll have a new installment to the Best Of B-Sides with a small collection of picks. Let's jump right in.
KARD - Trust Me
Both versions are gold, but I linked the J.Seph / Jiwoo version because having the drums in the background driving the song is nicer. And there's J.Seph, whose verse is really fucking good. The English verse that BM delivers is solid - arguably his best performance yet - but there's no denying J.Seph's mastery here. Jiwoo and Somin continue to be consistent in their vocals and Jiwoo's unique voice gives her the edge. This is a beautiful double version that gives any others like it a run for their money.
Red Velvet - Kingdom Come
Red Velvet always have high-quality material so it's like picking from a candy store as a kid: you can't go wrong no matter what. This is another exhibit of why their slower side / style is my preferred one from this group. Wendy shines and the rest do a more-than-acceptable job following her lead. Slow and mystical, "Kingdom Come" makes you feel like you're floating on clouds. Those harmonies in "I got you, you got me" are fucking divine. Bless.
Monsta X - Lost In The Dream
I don't listen to much Monsta X, making "Lost In The Dream" an immediate attention-grabber and subsequently my favorite on the "Dejavu" album. The title is appropriate since it sounds like something you'd play during the climax of a dream. Jooheon in particular impressed more than usual. Monsta X are more known for the aggressive hip-hop and dance style but this was a really good showing from them.
Crush - Beautiful You (feat. Choiza)
Hey there's no rule that the selections have to be recent aha. Crush's "Crush On You" album was well-rounded and this was more dance than R&B from the singer, though the lyrics certainly reflect more sensual times or aspirations. Choiza drops in for a quality assist with a flighty rap verse (expect something related to this in a future post...sorta) and the rest is history. Crush has always killed it and his B-Sides are no exception.
Mamamoo - Sleep In The Car
These dorks are legendary. I've been waiting for a sequel to "1cm" and this more than delivered on my expectations. Hwasa and Moonbyul spitting bars? Check. Wheein and Solar being sassy? Check. Everyone being gigantic goofballs? Double check. "Sleep In The Car" is hilarious and fun, and I love the Big Bang reference thrown in there (whether intentional or not). Many will point to Mamamoo's catchy tunes or quality vocals but I will always be most attracted to their beagle personalities, the latter being on full display in songs like this one.
