Traditionally, Chungha's music have combined effortless choreography with her crystal clear voice. Sometimes she stretches too high up in range and that strain can hurt the song but there is limited amounts of that here. What isn't limited though, is the fucking English. I'm not a big fan of how much the words "stay" and "tonight" are repeated throughout the song. Look it's in the title, we get that but damn that was some serious spam. Felt like half the song was comprised of those two words. Then again, this could have very easily been one of those lame tracks where they just have the instrumental run during the chorus (especially with how hard said instrumental goes) so I guess it's a lose-lose.
In a limited amount of words, I shall cover the choreography: it good. Done.
What do you want me to say? I could blabber on about the usual grace and mechanics of the dance except we all know I don't know shit about dancing. Chungha looks good, her backup dancers look good, and the performance looks good. Is it the best Chungha choreography? I still believe that "Gotta Go" takes the cake but "Stay Tonight" was certainly an exciting watch. Absolutely nothing of value was gained in the music video, so there's that.
"Stay Tonight" lands in the middle of her library. It's got good things going for it, like the strong instrumental and Chungha's voice remaining within her comfort range. But it also is infested with English word spam and a bridge that takes her out of said comfort zone. With some highs and some lows, that averages out to be just that: average.
