[Misc] Bias Power Rankings XII: Spring 2019

Like last year, April brings us the first Bias Power Ranking of 2019. These lists have slowed down since three years ago but perhaps this is the time to kick things back up a notch, with a plethora of promising young girl groups out there. That plus disbandments of the old guard will probably cause ripples across the ladder. Let's see who's hot going into the full swing of spring.

#12. Mina / #11. Somin (NEW) / #10. Olivia (NEW) / #9. Hyejeong (-2)

The relative lack of interest in competitors across girl groups means a returning favorite makes the last cut. With her position as my Twice bias, I'll gingerly put Mina here despite her unfortunate "Fancy" styling (as well as the song itself being whatever). If the track grows on me it could be what she needs to climb up convincingly. A pair of newcomers join the fray! KARD's Somin and Loona's Olivia are treats with visual and voice. Plus neither are half-bad dancers to boot. Hyejeong has likely seen her last appearance on this list with AOA on the edge of disbanding. Her fall from grace as a veteran of the top five is mirrored by AOA's departure from the spotlight. At least she has solidified her spot as a top visual threat of all time.

#8. SinB / #7. Eunji (+2) / #6. Jennie / #5. Irene (-1)

Here is where the standings usually stale out, which sounds counterintuitive but I'll check my math on that. SinB and Eunji are extremely consistent as their respective groups are, and Eunji taking the lead this time around for no real reason besides seniority (and Apink's anniversary I guess?). Jennie's eyes are too powerful and her mannerisms too adorable to warrant a move down, but "Kill This Love" is not good enough to warrant a move up, so at #6 she stays. Lastly, all I have to say to Irene is sorry.

#4. Seulgi (+1) / #3. Yuju / #2. Wheein / #1. Taeyeon

Darling Seulgi makes the first dent to the final four in a year. In the two months post-concert, she maintains her spot over Irene for now. The underdog in me will want to revert this ASAP but Seulgi's work in features and lethal dancing abilities have earned this placing. There's not much else to say about the last three. Yuju, Wheein, and Taeyeon have been immortal since the start of last year as the final bosses, and with GFriend and Mamamoo continuing to climb, their positions seem safe as can be. I had completely overlooked Taeyeon's Youtube channel, so I'll be binging that shit over the weekend. That is assuming I don't die during Avengers.
