[Misc] The Late Report: September 2020

Another Late Report, yay! Hope you weren't used to the August edition and the extra credit there, because this month has slimmed down considerably and is more in line with other previous installments. Wonder what is in September's grab bag of goodies.
Presidential BTS
Really seems like BTS are doing some groundbreaking worth every month or so. Granted I haven't really listened to any of their recent music, but still. To get a letter from the president is pretty rad - doesn't matter if you follow, love, or hate them. They really are on another level by this point, and not even the worldwide pandemic has been able to slow them down in any capacity. Scary shit.
Choa - Girls Like You
Amidst all the depressing news revolving AOA (and the rest of the world), it's nice to have some good show up. Choa has been out of the spotlight for a while now and I'm glad she is back. Her voice is delightfully refreshing and this Maroon 5 cover does a great job of that. This should be a slow but steady return to at least singing in the public sphere for her. Welcome back, Choa.
Everglow - La Di Da
After making their debut in Girl Group Power Rankings at #9 just two months ago, Everglow are back with another signature release in "La Di Da." Like mentioned previously, it's really impressive that they already have their style locked down. They're like Dreamcatcher if Dreamcatcher didn't previously exist as Minx. This track is right in line with their other songs, though I (as usual) dislike all the extraneous shit like the cheerleader sections. Despite that, it's still a solid comeback.
Jay Park Reads Thirsty Tweets
Now for something completely different. I don't need to write anything, this video is fucking hilarious. Doesn't matter if Jay Park isn't in the Kpop realm anymore, the absolute chaos and content here is fantastic. It's a funny video and you don't need to know who he is to get a good chuckle out of some of these.
Taeyeon - #GirlsSpkOut (feat. Chanmina)
Queen Taeyeon is absolutely worth breaking the rules for over this Japanese release. She continues to do work in voice and visual. The choreography is uninspiring but that has never been her strong suit to begin with. I have no idea who Chanmina is but she sounds like a powerful and aggressive vocalist. She emits lots of bad bitch vibes at least as far as this music video is concerned. Imagine being a creeper like the guy in the MV and then being hospitalized because a neon sign decided to fall on you.
Black Pink Are Lovesick
Man YG really out there calling their first album "The Album." That's pretty cringe. What isn't cringe is this teaser. Naturally, this means the actual song will be nothing like this and I'll be thoroughly disappointed yet again by Black Pink. I believe Jennie and Jisoo had a hand in the composition of this track? Any involvement is pretty cool given how scarce their content has been so. Though this means I can directly be upset if the song ends up being mediocre (or worse).
Stray Kids - Back Door
Wrapping things up we have Stray Kids and their newest single. Stray Kids are unlike any other boy group from JYP and much like Everglow above, they have capitalized on their sound over the years. "Back Door" has some very interesting and entertaining choreography. This group is all about performance, that much is certain. I got hype when I saw all those backup dancers spanning like three floors towards the end of the video, only to realize that (a) they're definitely not social distancing and (b) they didn't even fucking dance. What a letdown of cosmic proportions. But no "Back Door" is pretty slick. That's all for September. Damn we're already onto October...
